Needs a lot of polish. Controls are unresponsive and clunky. Enemy movement is random and eratic, combined with poor controls it is a game of special needs cat and mouse. Just level up your mechs and let them do the work until they get dumn and run into a wall while you're getting chased by a bunch of badies. This game could be something amazing, but it's not there yet.. After several CTD string errors, how my screen isn't centered when playing around with resolution and how the controls with the mouse give up randomly, I'd say this game isn't ready to be played without frustration. Concept is interesting but overall lack of integrity to gameplay breaks any hope you may have for it right now. There is plenty else to be said but these are the really serious ones that this game needs fixing.. Exploring the randomly generated planets and ships is pretty fun. There is a lot of depth and an infinite amount of area to explore. I like the idea of the game, where you have robot assistants doing the fighting, while you run around "collecting samples" ie looting. The lag is due to how bad the RPG maker engine is for this type of game. To imporove the controls, I suggest using a gamepad and the joy2key program to map the keyboard keys to the gamepad. In the Star-Box folder in your steam Common folder you can edit the config.ini file to matche your desktop resolution. I would also suggest turning on frame rate limit in your graphic cards game profile to limit screen tearing. In the game you can press F1 for the settings menu. Overall for the price, if you use the tweaks I suggest above, the game is fun but the combat lag can be annoying.. Is this a good game? Don't know. Crashes during the tutorial.. Having recently given up on Fortune's Tavern as a hopeless game i tried this one. I wondered long if this one works better and if i should buy it... though i see they both share the same kind of combat engine. Surely this one will work better right? No. It's terrible. And i have come to the conclusion that this game engine just isn't cut for fun action oriented gameplay. Sure you can get this to work somewhat but the fun part is just missing. Combat on ships is something that i can imagine some people love despite(or because) the sluggish way the characters move giving you a stuttering Archon -like linearity to combat. Fortune's Tavern dejavuu is very strong here. The biggest sin i think this game engine brings to the table is that it overshadows the story. You are spendng so much time on being annoyed by it that you just dont even care about the story. Yes i understand, some people like it. But i just can't as there really are WORKING action games such as Secret of Magia that does the action part right. Not going to be spending much ink on the game mechanics itself - i see others have already taken care of that. Instead i am going to just issue a general warning for action games that has this game engine underneath. Now by this i dont mean rpgmaker games generally as i have recently learn't to like a lot of more traditional rpgmaker games but this particular engine that is used on the more action oriented games is just a general disaster and i will avoid it like the plague in the future.. The game needs a lot more work, it could be great but it appears to be abandoned. There are game breaking bugs and the missions with the factions seem to go nowhere. I hope the dev comes back and updates the game
